Abstract: Homogenization Techniques for Reactive Flows and Catalysis in Industrial Reactor

This talk will be divided in two parts. The first one deals with the presentation of the Homogenization technique, mathematical tool used to upscale microscopic problems. Here, our problem consists in a reactive flow in a porous medium. Because of its complexity, one uses the homogenization of a cell problem to "understand" the final macroscale situation. The second part deals with the presentation of the catalysis in industrial reactors: definition and characteristics of the catalysis phenomenon depending the type of reactor.
Then a derivation of a mathematical model in a certain type of reactor will be given, from this we can make the link with the first part of the talk and see how homogenization technique can be used to model the catalysis in the complete reactor.
