Speaker : Frederic Weller Abstract: Introduction to the modelling of blood coagulation My talk will focus on the biological background of blood coagulation, explaining the main principles of the underlying mechanisms, such as self-amplification, negative feedback, localization and the coupling with blood flow. Some serious diseases will be presented, which are associated with disorders of the coagulation system. Finally, the arising challenges for mathematical modelling will be discussed. The mathematical part will then follow at the annual conference.
