Speaker : Sebastian Boenisch Abstract: An Introduction to the Fictitious-Domain Method with Application to Particulate Flow Problems. In this talk I want to give a short introduction to the fictitious-domain method. This method is a general approach to solve PDEs on complex-shaped domains without resolving the boundary by a matching grid. I will start with a simple model problem (Laplace equation), and then proceed to the simulation of particulate flows by means of the fictitious-domain method.
